Things Kids Say – Zen and the Marvel Universe
Book Boy - “Daddy, it says here in the Marvel Encyclopedia that Harry Osborn is the son of the Green Goblin. After his Dad was defeated, Harry became the second Green Goblin.”
Incredible Dad – “Yes, that’s right.”
BB – “But I thought Harry was a good guy.”
ID – “Nope, he turned into a bad guy.”
BB – “But you said that deep down inside, everyone is good.”
ID – “Hmm… you’re right… I mean that Harry Osborn is good, deep down inside, but he made a lot of bad choices.”
BB – “Uh-huh…”
(Silence ensues as I wonder if he’s pondering the deep meaning and import of my last statement; when he suddenly says…)
BB- “Daddy, who’s the strongest good guy in the Marvel Universe?”
ID – (After I smile as innocence has taken hold once again, I reply…) “Probably Molecule Man, the Hulk or Sentry.”
