Review of Teddy’s Restaurant and Deli – Oshawa
It’s time to write a review on a restaurant we go to often, a food landmark in Oshawa, Teddy’s Restaurant and Deli. As cozy and comfortable as a trip to Grandma’s house (with the same huge portions of food), this place has been around forever and ALWAYS has a lineup during mealtimes!
Find out why, what to expect when you visit with your family and the dessert you HAVE to try… we even include a great recipe of it for you!
Details: Teddy’s Restaurant and Deli, 245 King Street West, Oshawa, ON, (905) 579-5529, no website, additional 81 reviews found at Restaurantica in case you don’t trust ours…
Ambience: Having been around since Clean Mom was a child (which would be ___ years ago, age entry edited to protect the writer…), Teddy’s has developed it’s own kitschy, unique ambiance with Leafs memorabilia mixed in with antiques and other collectibles. There’s always a line-up but at least there’s a couple of TV’s to watch and lots of stuff to look at. Inside, booths abound in this 150+ seat restaurant.
Kids Stuff: A large menu with colouring on the back, the page is big enough (and the food is served fast enough) to suffice. Used crayons provided.
Kids Food: Lots of choices for the pickiest of kids. From turkey to spaghetti, from hot dogs to pancakes, your child is sure to find something they like… and the prices, you’ll like!
A cute idea is their free sundae to kids who finish their meal!
Parents Food: Great selection, decent quality, HUGE quantity, great desserts. Clean Mom had her regular turkey dinner with all the fixin’s for $11.95… delicious! I tried a sirloin steak and it was just ok.
The dessert that Clean Mom always orders is the Homemade Coconut Cream Pie with fresh whipped cream … you HAVE to try it!

Coolest Thing About Restaurant: Unique atmosphere, quantity of food, prices.
Worst Thing About Restaurant: Quality of food is average.
Overall Experience: There are a lot of reasons why our family, and most of Oshawa, are repeat clients. From the decor to the food, you won’t leave bored or hungry. Total cost of meal (tax and tip included) was $44.

September 2010 Update
It’s amazing how busy this place is. No matter what time we go there, there’s a lineup! At least the wait was worth it. Food continues to be great and portions are more than filling. We tried the strawberry pie for dessert this time, the crust was fantastic! Rating remains at 3.5 stars.
October 2010 Update
Extended family wanted to go here for Thanksgiving. The one new thing I found out is that Teddy’s is not for vegetarians; my poor sister-in-law did not have a good meal. Ah well, what do you expect from a deli!

went to Teddy’s for dinner with my mother food was not to bad..
waitresses were not very friendly had to wait for a coffee refill not impressed… While having dinner noticed all the girls cleaning off the tables but there was one in particular that was rushing around more then the others which did not seem very fair as she was doing all the work and seemed very pleasant as i have been at many restaurants in my life time i believe that all of the girls that clean tables should all be that quick… Also the waitresses should be a little more pleasant with the customers it is as if they are only there for the money…
This comment is for the Teddy’s at the corner of King and Park road and is for the management to read and to reply…
thank you and not sure if will be returning need to clean up your staff as they need work…
