Review of Swiss Chalet – Ajax

swiss chalet t

I would venture to say that almost every GTA family has eaten at this famous restaurant … and for good reason!

Ambience:  Standard Swiss Chalet decor where-ever you go; kind of comfortable when you’re travelling across the city or across the country.

Kids Stuff:  Probably the best kids placemat around with Nickelodeon characters (Dora, Spongebob), colouring and games for all ages (on both sides of the placemat to boot) with brand new crayons each time!  You don’t even have time to finish things as the food comes very quickly.

Kids Food:  Decent selection at very reasonable prices ($5.99) which comes with drink, toy and dessert (although they recently switched from full sized M&M/Skittles packs to Halloween sized packs…).  We usually get Book Boy the Chicken Strips with a Caesar Salad, Ballet Girl gets a Baked Potato (and shares Clean Mom’s chicken and brother’s salad) and we get an extra bun.  Great value!

Coolest Thing About Restaurant:  The full sized M&M’s were amazing… until they eliminated it!  So now its the giveaway, usually a pretty decent Nick Jr. toy!

Worst Thing About Restaurant:  Smaller packs of candies as kids meal snacks.

Overall Experience:  IMHO, the best bang for your buck when you’re dining out with your family.  Good food, good kids stuff, great prices.  This place can’t be beat for families who are just too tired to cook!

Rating:  3.5 stars out of 5

I guess its true that to keep from getting stale, restaurants need to keep things changing.  This holds true for Swiss Chalet as we found out from our last visit.  Now, when you buy a dinner entree, you get unlimited fries! Enjoy!
