Review of Moxie’s Classic Grill – Scarborough

Moxie's Logo - Colour

I have a confession to make… we eat out… a lot…

There!  It’s out… (relief flooding through core of being).

Now that I’ve revealed it to no one in particular, I might as well share our experiences as they occur.  Reviews found in this post will have what you need to know about eating at different restaurants with kids.  So first up – a Friday night dinner at Moxie’s!

Moxie’s Classic Grill – Scarborough Town Centre

Ambience:  think upscale cool.  Lighting was dark with spot lighting at each table (enough to colour by).

Kids Stuff:  nice activity page given (word search, maze, colouring, etc.) with wrapped crayons.

Kids Food:  Expensive!  Kids pasta dish was $7.99 and came with Beetle Juice and ice cream dessert.  (I used this opportunity to teach Book Boy about profit margins… yes I know, he’s only 5 but he was interested ok?…).  Better deal was Kids Meal at $9.99 which included the pasta plus chicken and a side salad.  This was enough to feed both kids (5 and 3 year old) so it worked out in the end.  Restaurant was nice enough to give both kids a dessert.

Coolest Thing About Restaurant:  Aside from the hostess that evening (ahem…), it was the kids Volcano Ice Cream dessert.  Restaurant uses a bit of dry ice and custom plate to simulate smoke coming out of the dessert… hey, what can I say, the kids are facinated by it!

Worst Thing About Restaurant:  Except for the prices of the kids meals, the glasses that the kids milk were served in were dirty.  Manager apologized but nothing else… ah well.  Service was slow as well so don’t go if you’re in a rush.

Overall Experience:  Kids enjoyed meal.  Adult fare was ok.  Volcano dessert keeps ‘em coming back.
