The X-Factor – Reality TV show or Video Parenting Tool?

Love them or hate them, reality shows are here to stay. One of the shows Clean Mom and I watch is The X-Factor and there have been a lot of amazing performances.

Aside from the singing and the drama, can this show actually be used as a parenting tool?

Yes! Read on to find out how!

The inaugural season of The X-Factor has a couple of 14 year old contestants performing in front of thousands of people and they’re doing amazing!

As parents, we want our kids to believe that they can achieve anything they put their mind to.

So one morning, I showed Book Boy and Ballet Girl some of the performances and showed them what was possible if they worked hard and followed their dreams.  As they watched the performances, I saw their eyes light up and their dreams come alive in their minds!

In case you haven’t seen these performances (or just want to show them to YOUR kids), here are some of the best performances:

For your sons, 14 year old Astro singing … well, just check it out!

For the daughters, here’s an amazing rendition of a song by 14 year old Rachel Crow:

And finally, for all the Dads out there, here’s one performance that tugs straight at the heart strings:

If the classics are more your style, here’s a Paul Anka video suggested to me by Business Dad for all the Papas out there:

Absolutely the worst TV realty music program I have ever seen. I wish I could get ahold of the sponsors (especially Pepsi) as I think they are in for a big loss here. This show is nothing about the singers…it’s all about the crying, dumb acting professional? judges, the lights, the back-up singers and all the pouring out of sympathy for these so called singers that we may never ever hear from again. I will never watch it again…
    American Idol…do your thing…you are 100% better!!!
