Dad Tip – Is there anything you want to ask me?

Many of the tips I’ll be posting come from my own life, things I’ve read and combinations of both so my apologies in advance if any of this sounds like something you’ve read from a book … it probably was!

Yesterday night, as I was chatting with Book Boy as he was getting ready for bed, I repeated something I’ve said to him before.

“You know, you can always ask me anything and talk to me about anything.  Is there anything you want to ask me right now?”

Some nights I get nothing.  Other nights (like yesterday), I get silence…. then whamo it hits…. “why doesn’t Chad want to play with me?”

It broke my heart.

But it also taught me a valuable lesson; as men who want to be Incredible Dads, we need to make sure our kids know we’re here to answer any questions they may have, and we need to keep reminding them of this!
