Actually Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving Day! (what a novel idea)

Someone recently said to me that Thanksgiving is a much bigger holiday in the US than here in Canada.

That may be the case but it shouldn’t stop us, as Incredible Dads, to still take a break and give thanks for what we have.  Here’s what I’m thankful for and I look forward to hearing your own gratitude comments…

1.  My Family

This is an easy one.  A colleague at work said today that his feelings are balancing between terror and fright as he’s having his first child in November.  However, while we are hopefully ‘surrendering gracefully the things of youth’ when we choose to start a family, life definitely becomes richer when children arrive.  So I’m thankful for my family, who add joy and meaning to my life.

2. My Health

Many millionaires have worked themselves sick to become rich, all for naught when they become bed-ridden.  Illness (yours or related to someone close to you) has a way of putting things in perspective.  So I’m thankful for my health, which allows me to enjoy all that life has to offer.

I’ve always wanted to achieve success through the service of others.  My job allows me to do this, my role as an Incredible Dad allows me to do this and now this site is giving me another, different and impactful way to do this.  So I’m thankful for the readers of this site who are dedicated to becoming Incredible People, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve in some small way.
