Third time’s a charm in this little restaurant nook in Ajax across from the Home Depot/Wal-Mart plaza on Highway 2.

On our way to the cottage or to a stroll in Port Perry, we always drive by a restaurant called Haugen’s BBQ on Hwy 12. One day, we finally decided to give it a try. For Clean Mom, it was a trip down memory lane as she remembers visiting the restaurant when she was a child.
Read on to see how our dinner went, what special events are happening at Haugen’s through the summer/fall and a hilarious (and totally unrelated) comic about a homework project depicting an adult entertainer?!?

Last summer, I went to Las Vegas for the first time for a Bachelor Party!
- (Yes it was amazing…)
- (Yes, I paid for it dearly with Clean Mom…)
I even gambled (and lost…) some money but had a lot of fun. So I was thinking to myself, “Self, how can I bring the same kind of excitement to IncredibleDad.com (without turning it into an illegal / immoral site)?”
The answer is Contests!
So if you’re the kind of Parent who likes getting cool things for Free (and really, who isn’t), then here’s the first contest! Read the rest of this entry »
While going on a (torturous) shopping trip with the family, we bumped into lunch-time with no definite plans. One Sunday evening, Book Boy decided he wanted to take the family to dinner! Giddy-up! Of course, what ensued was a 20 minute financial lesson on how much eating out really costs and what restaurants were within his financial reach. After ruling out Montana’s (too expensive) and some breakfast places (all closed), we ended up at a relatively new Italian fast food restaurant called Focacia’s. Find out if the restaurant lived up to its motto (Italian Fast Casual) and discover some great tips to help teach your kids about money! Read the rest of this entry »
It’s time to write a review on a restaurant we go to often, a food landmark in Oshawa, Teddy’s Restaurant and Deli. As cozy and comfortable as a trip to Grandma’s house (with the same huge portions of food), this place has been around forever and ALWAYS has a lineup during mealtimes!
Find out why, what to expect when you visit with your family and the dessert you HAVE to try… we even include a great recipe of it for you! Read the rest of this entry »
I remember the days when Licks used to be a quasi-50′s and 60′s style diner, complete with singing waiters. Imagine my surprise when we walked into the new and improved Licks store concept in Scarborough (where Morningside Mall used to be at Mornigside and Kingston Rd)! Goodbye kitschy 50′s and 60′s decor, hello booths and calming wood paneling.
Find out if the change in decor translated into a change in food quality and print out a coupon for a cheaper Licks kids combo meal. Also see and discover where you can buy the largest commercially available hamburger in the world! Read the rest of this entry »

I have no idea what’s happened to BookDads.com but I don’t like leaving things unfinished so here’s a review of a book they sent me to… well … review.
When I first got the book “Dads Matter” by Bob Hazleton, the cover didn’t impress me (shallow, I know) but there’s a lesson there about first impressions somewhere. Was the content better than the cover? We just finished watching Ballet Girl’s dance class, it was 6:00pm and we were starving. I was also looking to go to a restaurant I hadn’t reviewed yet. So we ended up moseying on over to the Lone Star Texas Grill in Pickering.

Our family’s search for new restaurants to visit recently took us to the ‘newly-renovated’ Papps Casual Dining & Banquet Hall.
